The Professional Regulations Commission’s (PRC) website is the main source of data used for the table above.
Like in other fields, PRC presents its top schools in categories. For Dentistry, the categories used usually comes in threes, namely, “with 5-25 examinees,” “26-99 examinees,” and “with 100 or more examinees.” In some years, PRC used the limit “with 50 or more examinees and at least 80% passing percentage.” To eliminate these categories and come up with an over-all top 10 in consideration of the PRC ranking, then, the limit used for the table above is simply “with 5 or more examinees” with exception though. Once a school has entered the top 10 in whichever exam date, the limit ends. Take for instance, University of Baguio. Even if UB had below 5 representatives for December 2009 exam, it was still considered in the ranking. This is because in the other exams, it was among the top performing schools per PRC limit. Note though that there’s a difference between this table’s and PRC’s rating for CEU-Malolos concerning the December 2008 exam. PRC captured the figure for the first-time takers (100%) instead of the 78% representing the over-all performance.
