  • Observant. You should be able to pay attention even to the smallest details so you can tell when something’s wrong or about to go wrong.

When something goes wrong with the computer, the computer support specialist is responsible for figuring out what went wrong, why it went wrong, and how can the problem be fixed. In addition to these, he is also responsible for making sure that the same problem – be it hardware, software, or operating system problems – will not happen again.

Career Outlook and Global Demand

Global Demand:

Because we are relying more and more computers, there will always be a need for computer support specialists locally. This need will only increase as more call center companies as well as BPOs or business process outsourcing companies open in the country. There is also a global demand for these professionals. Some countries hiring Filipino computer support specialists are Malaysia as well as Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

Expected Salary:

Entry-level computer support specialist typically earns P18,000 to P23,000 each month. This can go up to as much as P28,000 if you have experience and highly-skilled. If you go abroad though, you could earn about $3,700 monthly.

Opportunities for Advancement:

If you want to advance your career, then you need to take up additional formal education and undergo training to become, say for example, software engineer. Continuing education also gives you the opportunity to move up to managerial or supervisory positions.
