Caloocan City Science High School Entrance Exam Schedule 2010

When I was in Grade 7, one of my teachers strongly urged me to attend a science high school after graduation.  She apparently thought that that would be good training for me.  I never did attend a science high school like she had wished, yet I eventually saw and appreciated her perspective later on.

Before you can reap the benefits of a science high school education, you must first prove your mettle to the institution.  In times past, I’ve covered the important application timelines of PhiSci, MaSci and QueSci, yet there are other science high schools out there that are worthy of note.  Caloocan City Science High School (henceforth referred to as CalSci is one such school.

The general CalSci timeline is similar to that of other science high schools.  Please note that, as of the time of this writing, the school only has conservative estimates as to when certain things will take place, not exact dates and times.  Nevertheless, it won’t hurt to mark your calendars for planning purposes.

First of all, the school plans to release the application forms for school year 2011 sometime in September 2010.  The final deadline for submissions hasn’t been set yet; it’s highly recommended that you check with the CalSci Admissions Office (please see below).

Caloocan City Science High School Entrance Exam Schedule

As is the case with a few other science high schools, the screening process involves two written exams, the first of which will be held during the month of December.

Now here’s the interesting thing:  the initial test will cover materials from your Grade 6 subjects (English, Science, Math, etc.).  The second exam will be a tad more advanced in the sense that it will draw from first year high school topics.

Sources say that the results for the first test should be out by February 2011.  Note that the second written exam will follow about a week after these results are released to the general public.  CalSci expects the results of the second exam to come out in March 2011.  All applicants who pass that second test will go on to the interview phase set during the same month.  The face-to-face interview is the final step of the screening process—the school will consider you a near-enrollee if you pass it.

After that, you’ll be asked to make a final confirmation of your intention to study at CalSci, as well as to attend the freshmen orientation in May 2011.  All that follows after that is the actual registration in June 2011 and you’re good to go.
