Scholarship Background

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) is the primary government agency under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, pursuant to Executive Order No. 192 on June 1987. It is responsible for the conservation, management, development and proper use of the country’s mineral resources including those in reservations and lands of public domains. It took the functions of the Bureau of Mines and Geosciences but minus the line functions that were transferred mainly to the DENR regional offices. It also absorbed the functions of the abolished Mineral Resources Development Board (MRDB), and the Gold Mining Industry Assistance Board (GMIAB).

tuition fee, monthly stipend of P3,000 and book allowance

Scholarship Qualifications

for incoming college students:
-Graduated in High School in the upper 10 percentile with preference to Valedictorian or Salutatorian
-Must have passed the required Admission Test for the courses BS Geology, Mining Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering
-must be physically and mentally fit
-with good moral character

for currently enrolled students:
-must have obtained a General Weighted Average of 2.5
-must be enrolled in courses BS Geology, Mining Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering or allowed to shift to courses BS Geology, Mining Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering.

Scholarship Requirements

for incoming college students:
-Application letter addressed to the Director Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Central Office Attention MGB Local Scholarship Committee
-MGB Information Sheet
-2 passport size photos
-a copy of ITR for the year of parents or guardian
-form 138
-certificate of admission from school
-medical clearance as certified by a government physician
-certificate of good moral character as certified by the Principal, or Police or NBI clearance

for currently enrolled students:
-Application letter addressed to the Director Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Central Office Attention MGB Local Scholarship Committee
-MGB Information Sheet
-2 passport size photos
-a copy of ITR for the year of parents or guardian
-Transcript of Scholastic records
-certificate of admission from school
-certificate that student is currently enrolled in courses BS Geology, Mining Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering or allowed to shift to courses BS Geology, Mining Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering.
-medical clearance as certified by a government physician
-certificate of good moral character as certified by Dean or Department Head
-Police or NBI Clearance
