Scholarship Background

In 1966, on SGV’s 20th year, Washington SyCip, together with co-founder Alfredo M. Velayo and partners Cesar E. A. Virata, Benjamin V. Abela, and Erlinda T. Villanueva, established the SGV Foundation, Inc. In adherence to its primary purposes, the Foundation for the last 45 years has encouraged the promotion of the industrial, business and management sciences through financial assistance and support, grants, scholarships, and research. Learning institutions, entrepreneurs, researchers, students and educators have been main beneficiaries of these efforts.
The Foundation has undertaken projects relating to social, moral and economic development of communities and families with the end in view of promoting the general welfare of society. Today, the Foundation also partners with other foundations in various projects that are aligned with its goals and objectives. The Foundation is accredited with the Philippine Council for NGO Certification (PCNC) as a qualified donee-institution recognized by the Bureau of Internal Revenue. It is a member of the League of Corporate Foundations and Association of Foundations.

Scholarship Qualifications

-Must be an incoming regular 3rd -4th Year CS, IT, IM, CpE, ECE or AR student;
-Must be a Filipino Citizen;
-Must not be a recipient of any scholarship/s;
-Must have a GWA standing of 2.00 for the last two terms;
-Must have no failing and incomplete grades;
-Must be of good health;
-Must be of good moral character;
-Must submit the complete requirements;
-Must pass the interview by CSFA.

Scholarship Requirements

-Completed Scholarship Application From (Downloadable at MIT website)
-Two 2×2 ID pictures
-Photocopy of Final Grade Report since 1st Year
-Photocopy of Certificate of Matriculation (CM)
-Certificate of Good Health
-Certificate of Good Moral from Office of the Prefect and Discipline
-Brief essay (not more than 150 words) about the applicant, his/her goals and answering the questions “Why I think I deserve this scholarship grant?”
-Interview conducted by CSFA

Responsibilities of Scholars
-The scholar must have a GWA of 2.00 or higher
-The scholar must not have a grade lower than 3.0 in any course/subject
-Must finish the program within the prescribed numbers of quarters
-The scholar must provide and update his/her personal contact information
-Must visit the CSFA Office before enrollment for validation
