Scholarship Background

Petron Corporation is the largest oil refining and marketing company in the Philippines. Supplying nearly 40% of the country’s oil requirements, their world-class products and quality services fuel the lives of millions of Filipinos everyday. Petron operates a refinery in Limay, Bataan, with a rated capacity of 180,000 barrels per day (29,000 m3/d). From the refinery, Petron moves their products mainly by sea to 32 depots and terminals in the country. They operate a lube oil blending plant at their Pandacan Terminal, where it manufactures lubes and greases. Petron is public company listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange. A 51-percent stake is owned by the Philippine food and beverage giant San Miguel Corporation (SMC) while the Ashmore Group owns 40 percent. The remaining shares—about 9 percent—are held by the public.

Scholarship Benefits

-Full tuition fee and miscellaneous per term
-Living allowance of 5,000.00 per month
-Book allowance 3,000.00 per term
-Allowance and assistance while reviewing and taking Licensure Examinations

Scholarship Qualifications

-Must be an incoming 2nd- – 4th year students taking Chemical, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering programs;
-Must not be more than 25 years old;
-Must not have a family income of more than 250,000 pesos per year;
-Must be of good health and with good moral character;
-Must be in good academic standing with GWA of 2.5 or higher for the last two terms without 3.0 grade in any subject/course.

Scholarship Requirements

-Completed Scholarship Application From (Downloadable at MIT website)
-Two 2×2 ID pictures
-Photocopy of latest Certificate of Matriculation (CM)
-Photocopy of Final Grade Report since 1st Year
-Photocopy of Latest Income Tax Return of Parents or Affidavit of Not Filing Income Tax Return
-Certificate of Good Moral from Office of the Prefect
-Certificate of Good Health
-Brief essay stating the reasons why the applicant should be awarded with Scholarship Grant.

Responsibilities of Scholars
-The scholar must maintain a GWA of 2.50 or higher every term
-The scholar must not have a grade lower than 3.0 in any course/subject
-Must carry a full term load as programmed every term
-Must finish the program within the prescribed numbers of quarters
-Must not seek employment throughout the duration of the scholarship grant
-The scholar must provide and update his/her personal contact information
-Must visit the CSFA Office before enrollment for validation
