Scholarship Background

The Mapúa Alumni Association, Alberta Chapter, is a multi-faceted, multi-disciplined assembly of engineers, architects, programmers, project managers and designers with varying years of experience in their field of expertise. While the majority is employed in the oil and gas industry, a few is in the service sectors that are oil and gas industry-related. the Mapúa Alumni Association has included in its mission statement a declaration that supports fund raising events with proceeds going to the financially handicapped but deserving students of the Mapúa Institute of Technology. The association’s headquarter is located at Solid Industries in Calgary. Solid Industries is owned and operated by Ben and Lourdes Ang.

Scholarship Benefits

The Association will shoulder part of the tuition fee based on the GWA of the scholar:
-1.99 and higher – 75% of the tuition fee
-2.00- 2.24 – 50% of the tuition fee
-2.25- 2.50 – 25% of the tuition fee

Scholarship Qualifications

-Must be an incoming 2nd Year Engineering students;
-Must not have outstanding school account for the previous term;
-Must be of good moral character;
-Parents combined annual income must not exceed to Php 250,000.00 pesos;
-Must not be enjoying any other scholarship support from other private companies;
-Must have a GWA standing of 2.50 for the last two terms;
-Must have no failing and incomplete grades since 1st Year.

Scholarship Requirements

Requirements
-Completed Scholarship Application From (Downloadable at MIT website)
-Two 2×2 ID pictures
-Photocopy of Certificate of Matriculation (CM)
-Photocopy of Final Grade Report since 1st Year
-Photocopy of Latest Income Tax Return of Parents or Affidavit of Not Filing Income Tax Return
-Certificate of Good Moral from Office of the Prefect and Discipline
-Certificate of Good Health
-Brief essay stating the reasons why the applicant should be awarded with Scholarship Grant.

Responsibilities of Scholars
-The scholar must have a GWA of 2.50 or higher
-The scholar must not have a grade lower than 3.0 in any course/subject
-Must finish the program within the prescribed numbers of quarters
-Must have not outstanding school account for the previous term
-The scholar must provide and update his/her personal contact information
-Must visit the CSFA Office before enrollment for validation
