Scholarship Background

PhilDev is a non-profit organization for the Philippines, registered in both the United States and the Philippines. The organization focuses on programs that build the infrastructure of science and technology development and innovation aimed at long term social and economic development in the Philippines. The strategic programs are in the areas of Education, Innovation, Infrastructure and Entrepreneurship.

It ensures that factors associated with high retention and graduation rates are present in the scholars’ academic lives: a) teaching and advising that is inspired and responsive to students’ needs; b) mentoring and coaching/counseling programs; c) identification with engineering and a sense of belonging to the profession.

Scholarship Benefits

• P1, 000,000 per scholar for five years
• Provision for living allowances {(P7,000.00 x 5 months) – P35,000.00} and stipend, books (P 5,000.00), supplies, dormitory fees, health and group insurance, transportation, and other relevant expenses
• Mentorship

Scholarship Qualifications


1. Must be in good mental, physical, and emotional health;
2. Must have a qualifying GWA (General Weighted Average) of “1.636”;
3. Must be a bona fide SECOND YEAR student enrolled in CHEMICAL, MECHANICAL and ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING at the University of the Philippines DIliman or Los Baños;
4. Annual gross family income must not exceed P500,000.00;
5. Must be a Filipino citizen, without pending immigration application to any foreign country;
6. Must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action;
7. Must be in good scholastic standing;
8. Must be enrolled in at least 15 units or normal load of the course at the time of the award of the grant.


1. Top 5% of high school graduating class
2. Admitted to a SuperFund partner universities: eight ERDT Universities (Ateneo de Manila, Central Luzon State, De La Salle, Mapua Institue of Technology, Mindanao State University – Iligan, University of the Philippines – Diliman and Los Baños, and University of San Carlos). Other universities may be considered on a case-to-case basis.
3. Pursuing a science or engineering degree.
4. Filipino citizen, without pending immigration application to any foreign country.
5. Good mental, physical, and emotional health.
6. Good moral character.
7. Incoming second year students with a GPA equivalent to B, without any failing grades in any course, may be considered.

Scholarship Requirements

1. Scholarship application used by partner university
2. Resume or Curriculum Vitae of candidate
3. Official transcript of records, authenticated by high school
4. Written certification from the applicant’s high school principal on the applicant’s status of being in the top 5% of their graduating class
5. Certificate of good moral character written by the applicant’s principal or guidance counselor
6. 2 x 2 photograph, taken within a month of scholarship application
7. Statement from the applicant’s parents or guardian indicating that the applicant has not applied as a resident or immigrant in any foreign country
8. NSO copy of birth certificate
9. Health certificate accomplished by a PhilDev-accredited doctor
10. Parents’ most recent income tax return
11. Disclosure of possible conflict of interest (immediate and extended familial relation to any PhilDev staff and board member, donor company executive and employee, Partner University administrator and employee, and other institutions involved in the screening and selection of SuperFund Scholars)
