The Dean Armando J. Malay Memorial Scholarship In Journalism started in 2003. Dean Armando Malay is someone who was committed to a personal radical vision of living in a better society and nation. He was a favorite writer and speaker at workshops and conventions because of his vigilance and never comprising defense of the press freedom. He serves to keep the journalistic ethics. A journalist for over six decades, Dean Malay taught others how to be a good journalist by demanding accuracy and excellence from his students. He is a common sight in rallies during the imposition of the martial law to the Aquino years. He was actively involved in anti-dictatorship movements.

must be a bona fide 3rd year B.A. Journalism student in UP Diliman;
must have obtained an average of “2.5” or better for a load of at least 15 units with no grade of “5.00” or unremoved grade of “4.00” or “inc.” in the immediately preceding semester;
must be enrolled in at least 15 units at the time of the award of the award;
must have graduated from a public high school.
the scholarship is renewable every semester.
