CHED Merit Scholarship versus DOST-SEI S&T Merit Scholarship

ched merit scholarship versus dost merit scholarshipThis post is our response to a question we received about choosing between the CHED Full-Merit Scholarship and the DOST-SEI Merit Science and Technology Scholarship. We thought we’d better turn it into a separate post for those who are also confused about which scholarship is better. This question is likely to crop up again and again since one cannot apply for a CHED scholarship if he or she has already accepted another government grant, of which the DOST-SEI S&T Scholarship is definitely one.

We will not answer the “which scholarship is better” question outright. What we’ll do instead is set one against the other in an easy-to-compare table so anybody reading this post will be able to determine which scholarship is better given his/her specific circumstances.

So here goes…

Explanatory notes:

  • The CHED Merit Scholarship has two versions: the Full-Merit and the Half-Merit.  The latter provides half the amount granted by the former.
  • The DOST Scholarship in this post pertains to the Merit Scholarship – not the RA7687 Science and Technology Scholarship.
  • Under the DOST Merit Science and Technology Scholarship
