UPCAT 2013 Application Open

The UPCAT 2013 application period opens today – May 22, 2012.  Note that this UPCAT application is for incoming fourth year high school students who intend to take the UP College Admission Test on August 4 or 5, 2012. It is for those who want the chance of getting admitted to the University of the Philippines in 2013.

By this time, you should (at least) already have a copy of the UPCAT application forms.  Remember, you will need to submit two forms to UP – the UPCAT Form 1 and the UPCAT Form 2.  You will have to fill out the first form, while your school administrator (i.e. your principal or school head) will have to accomplish the second form. Completing the forms can take some time (school administrators are busy people, after all); thus, you need to get started on your application.

Remember, you only have until June 15, 2012 (if you’re from a Metro Manila school) or June 22, 2012 (if you’re from a non-Metro Manila school) to get your correctly and completely filled out UPCAT application forms to the UP Office of Admissions.

Students from the province, please be especially mindful of the deadline. Remember, you’ll need to mail (or send via courier) your application forms to UP – and things could happen to them en route (e.g. they could be lost in transit). We’re not saying that will happen; we’re saying it might. Just don’t leave it until the last minute to submit your UPCAT application forms, so you’ll have time to deal with whatever problems might crop up.

If you still don’t have the forms, better get them now.  For information on important dates and where you can get the application forms for the UPCAT 2013, check out a post we made earlier regarding the UPCAT 2013 schedule.

  1. Naalala ko dati di kami nakakuha ng UPCAT kasi late na natanggap galing sa munisipyo namin ‘yung admission slip. So lahat kami ng batch 2006 sa school specially mga honors student di nakasubok kahit sa experience lang naman sana. Well, we blamed the local post office pero wala na kaming magagagawa. Sayang talaga.

  2. what if for example, I wrote UPD and UPM as my first and second choice then I didn’t pass the quotas but my score is acceptable in UPLB. can i enroll at UPLB?

    • Hi Denielle,

No, you may not enroll in UPLB simply because your UPG passes that campus’ cut-off. First of all, UP does not compare applicants’ UPGs against all campuses’ cut-offs. It will only compare your UPG to your first and second choice campuses. So in this scenario, you’d get a letter from UP saying that you did not make it.

Of course, that letter would bear your UPG. That’s to help students manually compare their UPGs against other UP campuses’ (specifically those they did not choose in their application forms) absolute reconsideration cut-offs. With UPG info in hand, these students may now apply to be reconsidered in a UP campus.

Unfortunately for you, in your scenario you want to be reconsidered for acceptance in UPLB. UPLB has a policy that says it will only accept reconsideration applications from those who chose UPLB in their UPCAT application forms. Thus, even if your UPG is higher than UPLB’s absolute cut-off for reconsideration, you will still not be reconsidered for this campus unless you also chose UPLB as a campus when you applied for the UPCAT.

That being said, if the scenario you described really went down, I’d still encourage you to apply for reconsideration. There would be no harm in trying to get reconsidered.

  3. Hello po. Question lang po: pano po magbabayad para sa UPCAT kung sa abroad po mag-titake ng exam? (Specifically, Abu Dhabi)
