UPCAT 2013 – Application Forms Available Now

All incoming 4th-year high school students, the application forms for the UP College Admission Test (UPCAT) for the Academic Year 2013-2014 are now available!

Is UPCAT 2013 for You?

The UPCAT 2013 is for incoming 4th year high school students who aspire to be UP Freshmen in the Academic Year 2013-2014.

Where Can You Get the UPCAT 2013 Forms?

1.  You may download the UPCAT forms online.

You may visit the UPCAT website (http://upcat.up.edu.ph/) to get the downloadable UPCAT forms. Here are the direct download links:

  • General Information – download and read this; do not fill out the forms without first reading this general information bulletin thoroughly.
  • UPCAT Form 1 – this is the Personal Data Sheet that you have to fill out completely.
  • UPCAT Form 2 – this is the High School Records form that is for your school administrator to fill out.

After you’ve downloaded the two UPCAT 2013 forms, print them on 8.5″x13″ paper, fill them out correctly and completely then submit them as soon as UPCAT application opens.

2. You  may request a copy from your school.

If you’re lucky enough to be from a school that actively supports its students who want to get into the University of the Philippines, you can probably get a copy of the UPCAT forms from your school administrators.  Your school administrators are also probably going to bug you until you accomplish and submit your UPCAT Forms – lucky you.

3. You may get a copy from the UP Office of Admissions.

If you are friends or kin with someone studying in any UP Campus, then you can probably prevail upon that person to get you a hard copy of the UPCAT forms from the UP Office of Admissions (if your friend or kin is in UP Diliman) or from the Office of the Registrar (if your friend or kin is in any other UP Campus).

When Does the UPCAT 2013 Application Period Start?

You may start submitting your UPCAT 2013 application forms on May 22, 2012, Tuesday,

    • Hi! Unfortunately, you can’t enroll in UP as a freshman this June if you did not pass the UPCAT that was administered in August 2012. If you are determined to study in UP, you may wait for the next UPCAT which will be held in August 2013; if you pass that, you’ll be eligible to enroll in UP as a freshman in the academic year starting June 2014. If you decide to do this, however, you can’t enroll in college just yet. Those who have taken college units are ineligible to take the UPCAT.

One other option is to enroll in a different university this June, get excellent grades and apply for transfer to UP in your second year. Just note that the success of applications for transfer to UP is not guaranteed.

      • hmmm good evening tanong ko lang po paano makakuha ng application from to enrollment sa F.E.U tnx…

I was planning to go to the philippines this december and hopefully take the entrance exam for UP Diliman after I submit the admission form. Please reply ASAP

    • Hi Luke,

The UPCAT route is closed because it’s too late to apply for the entrance test. However, there’s another way you may get into UP as a freshman next school year – if my assumption that you’re coming from a high school abroad is correct.

On the UPCAT website (upcat.up.edu.ph), there’s information there meant for applicants from high schools abroad. I’m copy-pasting the exact passage here; hope it helps.

I also urge you to get in touch with the UP Office of the University Registrar for more information on foreign undergraduate admission to UP:
      Office of the University Registrar
      University of the Philippines
      Diliman, Quezon City
      1101 Philippine
      Direct line: (632) 928-8369
      Telephone: (632) 981-8500 local 4555
      E-mail: our@up.edu.ph

      FOR UNDERGRADUATE FOREIGN APPLICANTS

Important: Unless you qualify under any of the requirements stated below, it will not be advisable for you to apply. Only correctly filled up application forms with the required supporting documents and the non-refundable application fee (US$50 for non-resident foreign applicants) will be processed.

      General Requirements
A foreign applicant who graduated from a high school abroad and has not enrolled in college may be admitted to the freshman class if he meets the following requirements:

      1. Completion of high school program in the country where he had his secondary education (including the completion of a one- or two-year pre-university education in a country where such is a prerequisite for admission to a bachelor’s degree program)
      2. Qualifying in a college-qualifying national or international foreign-administered examination such as General Certificate of Education (GCE) Examination and the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or equivalent examination:
        • GCE: 3 ordinary level passes and 2 advanced level passes
        • SAT: minimum total score of 1200 (Math and Critical Reading Only)
        • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
      3. In the case of an applicant whose native language or whose medium of instruction in the secondary school is not English, a minimum score (500 if paper based or 173 if computer based) in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

Filipino High School Graduates from Abroad
A Filipino who graduated from a secondary school abroad applying for freshman admission to the University must satisfy the same requirements as those for foreign students.

      UP College Admission Test (UPCAT)
A graduate from a high school abroad who fails to satisfy the requirements for automatic admission (i.e., Item B under General Requirements) may take the UP College Admission Test (UPCAT).
