Exams for this field are conducted twice a year: January and June. The Professional Regulations Commission’s (PRC) website is the main source of data used for the table above. In four years (2008-Jan 2011), an average of 53 schools participates in every licensure exam for pharmacists with a 56% passing percentage or 777 out of 1,379 examinees.
Like in other fields, PRC presents its top schools in categories. For Pharmacy, categories used did vary. The lowest limit used was “with 5 or more examinees” while the highest was “with 50 or more examinees and at least 80% passing percentage.” To eliminate these categories and come up with an over-all top 10 in consideration of the PRC ranking, then, the limit used for the table above is simply “with 5 or more examinees” with exception though. Once a school has entered the top 10 in whichever exam date, the limit ends. Take for instance, St. Paul University-Tuguegarao. Even if the said school had below 5 representatives for January’s 2010 and 2011 exams, it was still considered in the ranking. This is because in the other exams, it was among the top performing schools and even qualified in PRC’s June 2009 limit.
