Y-(-2)=3(x-4)

Y + 2 = 3x – 12

Shouldn’t the answer be : y= 3x-14 , instead of y= 3x -10???

may iba naman na mali ang solution. Example sa number 15 dapat ang solution is: let x be r, x+1 be s, x+2 s,

so,

=[x-(x+1)][(x+1)-(X+2)][x-(X+2)]

=(x-x-1)(x+1-x-2)(x-x-2)

=(-1)(-1)(-2)

=-2

Sa 19 naman, ang liwanag nung sentence na “sixty-seven less than the sum of fifty-eight and forty-two” 67- (58+42) . kaya ang labo pano naging (58+42) – 67? hahaha. Buti sana kung nakalagay sa question eh “Sixty-seven subtracted to the sum of fifty-eight and forty-two”

Q#5: As you explained, the amount paid = 0.99OP. so that means the amount paid is 1% (not 10%) lower than the original price, or equivalently, the amount paid is 99% of the original price.

Q#25: Please check the last part of your computation. If y+2=3x-12 then y=3x-14

Q#27: The equation should be x/10 + 2x/5 = 1 . The second term should not be 5x/2. so the answer should be 2 days.

i think there’s something wrong in the question in determining the equation of the line which passes through (4,-2) and has a slope of 3

in getting the slope we use the formula: y=mx+b

substituting now given x as 4, y as -2 and m is 3

-2=(3)(4) + b

-2=12 + b

-14=b

the answer should be

y=3x-14

just saying 🙂

If so, given that answer isn’t it asking for the value of k so that it would be PERPENDICULAR to line 2x-y+1=0.

I’m not a math whiz like the rest of you here so I only checked…

Like I was saying, it was asking for a line perpendicular to the given equation. Why?

I tried getting the x and y coordinates of -14x -8 + 7y.

X coordinate

-14x -8 + 7(0) = 0

-14x = 8

x = -14/8 or -7/4

Y coordinate

-14(0) -8 + 7y = 0

7y = 8

y = 7/8

You can get the slope of the line using rise/run which means:

(7/8) / (-7/4)

7/8 x (-4/7)

-28 / 56

m = -1/2

Line 2x-y+1 has a slope of 2.

None of the choices give us an equation with a slope of 2.

The equation -14x-8+7y=0 gives us a slope of -1/2, thus, it is PERPENDICULAR TO THE LINE 2x-y+1=0

I’m not some math genius so then again, I could be wrong…

the equations are kx – 8 + 7y = 0 and 2x – y +1 = 0

We are taught that you can just transpose the equation to get the slope using the form y = mx + b

so the two equations will be y = -kx/7-8/7 and y=2x+1

the slopes of the two equations will be the coefficient of the x

so it will be -k/7 and 2

Since to have a parallel equation the equations should have equal slopes.

So we can just make the equation….

-k/7 = 2

(cross multiplication)

-k = 14

[-k = 14]/-1

so it will be -14.:)

kx-8+7y=0…,m=-k/7

2x-y+1=0….,m=2

2=-k/7

14=-k

k=-14

check:

-14x-8+7y=0…,m=14/7 or 2

2x-y+1=0….,m=2

di ga po mali ang sagot sa 13? ang explanation po eh tama na 0.99 ang sagot, pero ang marked as correct eh letter C instead of B ..

sa 29 din po.. diga po un ay:

1 = (1/ days of Mrs.Isagani)x + (1/ days of Mrs.Rosas)x

1 = (1/10)x + (1 / (5/2))x

1 = (1/10)x + (2/5)x

1 = (1/10)x + (4/10)x

1 = (5/10)x

1 = (1/2)x

x = 2

Yan din yung sagot ko kasi diba para mag divide na ang denominator ay fraction, ire-reciprocal siya. So magiging 1 * 2/5 = 2/5. Anyare? Bakit hindi nagrecipocal?

Yung question number 9 explanation doesn’t support question number 9’s correct answer. please check po. mukhang baliktad lang po yung B and C.

I think there’s something wrong with the answer in Q#18. The rate of Mr. Rosas should be x/(5/2). Simplifying it should be 2x/5.

x/10 + 2x/5 = 1

5x/10=1

5x=10

x=2.

So the time should be 2.
