Exams for this field are conducted twice a year: April and November.  The Professional Regulations Commission’s (PRC) website is the main source of data used for the table above.

PRC presents its top schools in categories.  For Chem Eng, the categories used for the last three years varied. Sometimes, “with 10 or more examinees,” while in others, “with 20 or more.”  There are also those “with 15 or more examinees and at least 80% passing percentage” or “with 50 or more examinees and at least 80% passing percentage.” To eliminate these categories and come up with an over-all top 10 schools still in consideration with PRC ranking, then, the limit used for the table above is simply “with 10 or more examinees” but with an exception.  Once a school has entered the top 10 in whichever exam date, the limit ends.  Take for instance, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila.  Even if PLM had below 10 representatives for the 2010 exams, it was still considered in the ranking.  This is because in the other exam dates, PLM has been in the top 10, limit observed.
