The Professional Regulations Commission’s (PRC) website is the main source of data used for the table above. In the last three years (2008-2010), an average of 463 schools participates in every licensure exam for nurses. There is a 41% passing percentage or 34,125 out of 83,456 examinees, on average, pass the exam.
Like in other fields, PRC presents its top schools in categories. For Nursing, the top schools are categorized in two: “with 30-99 examinees” and “with 100 or more examinees.” To eliminate these categories and come up with an over-all top 10 in consideration of the PRC ranking, then, the limit used for the table above is simply “with 30 or more examinees” with exception. Once a school has entered the top 10 in whichever exam date, the limit ends. Take for instance, St. Paul University-Iloilo. Even if it had below 30 representatives for June 2009 exam, it was still considered in the ranking because in the other exams, it was consistently among the top performing schools per PRC limit. In cases where schools do not have representatives on certain exam dates, the divisor used in deriving the average is adjusted accordingly.

Pingback: Top Universities of the Philippines: CHED’S Center of Excellence and Center of Development(As of Oct. 4, 2010)
Passing rate alone cannot be a valid indicator of the “top nursing schools”.
But if you still wish to put this list up, please do indicate the year where you got this, cite the source, and include the basis for the ranking.thank you
Hi RJ, source is the PRC website, board exam dates and years are indicated at the table and the basis is the passing average of each university [those that have a substantial number of students who took the exam]. It’s a simplified ranking version I admit but i think its effective for those who wish to use board exam passing rates as the basis. We will be posting write ups that will accompany these tables in the future. we also have a post about top universities using CHED’s COE/COD ratings, we will be merging these in future posts.
