Good day! i just want to ask about the scholarship of CHED that was called as Safe Scholar.. They(my school)said that Ched has not been giving any fund for the SAFE scholar.. I really need it because i cant enroll for this year if there is a back account that has not been accomplish to pay… i am in my 5th year of engineering…

Hi Rhea,

If you satisfy all the eligibility requirements enumerated in the article, chances are high that you’d be eligible to apply.

As for grade requirements, we don’t have any info on that. It does say in the article that this scholarship is mainly for the “underprivileged yet deserving students.” This implies that the main criterion for choosing scholars is financial need but that scholars still must be “deserving” of financial aid to get it. This is where the ambiguity sets in. How do you say an applicant is more “deserving” of financial aid than another?

The answer might lie in the eligibility requirements. If you check the article, you’ll see that applicants are required to submit their Form 138, aka high school report card (for freshmen), or their rating or report of their attendance during the previous semester (for non-freshmen). Perhaps, the scholarship committee will look at the applicants’ commitment to their studies rather than their actual grades – but it could also be that the scholarship committee uses grades as a selection filter when necessary.

Suffice it to say that, for this scholarship, there might be a grade component but this may not be fixed (that is, there might not be a minimum grade requirement) so as not to inhibit would-be applicants from applying.

I live in pasig so it means i will get the application form in municipality of pasig?

Just wanted to say thanks for dropping by. ^_^ Yun nga lang, kailangan kong linawin na hindi sa’min galing scholarships. Kinu-compile lang namin ang information on available scholarships para mas madali sa mga kabataan nating maghanap ng scholarship kung kailangan. We need to thank yung mga foundations and scholarship program administrators.
