Have you ever been grateful for something good you received that you wanted to return the favor? That may be one of the reasons for choosing a career in education, besides the fact that teachers will always be needed.
Before they can impart knowledge and wisdom to others, all potential teachers must first undergo training. Here’s a quick look at what future instructors can expect from a course in education.
Teacher Training
The term “education” is a very general one; a number of courses fall under this comprehensive field: elementary education, middle childhood education, education for people with special conditions (SPED) are but some of the offerings on the table.
Generally, students can look forward to an eclectic kind of training. Subjects such as history, mathematics, sciences, and even music and composition may be part of the education curriculum. Languages (both English and the vernacular), coupled with child development and education courses per se, help round out the training.
Teachers Take Exams, Too
If you’ve ever stressed over exams, take heart: you’re not alone. The very teachers who administer and proctor your exams have gone through that, too. One particularly important exam they need to take is the Licensure Exam.
In a nutshell, the said exam measures the ability of potential teachers and separates the wheat from the chaff. It may be likened to the Bar for lawyers or the Board exam for medical professionals.
Parting Words
If you’re considering a teaching profession, then I leave you with this in closing: it’s said that all human relationships are either teaching or learning experiences. Perhaps it is the truly capable teacher who does both.
