Did she ever indicate UP Manila in her UPCAT application form? Is UP Los Banos her first or second choice? Due to limited information, I can only tell you that transferring campuses is generally not permitted to new freshmen. Below, I have included some possible scenarios and likely (note the word likely) outcomes:

If UP Manila is her first campus choice and UP Los Banos her second campus choice, I’m afraid a transfer is not possible. UP screens freshmen applicants according to their campus choices. The fact the she has been assigned to her second campus choice means she did not beat UP Manila’s UPG cut-off.

If UP Los Banos is her first campus choice and UP Manila her second campus choice, a transfer is probably still not possible. UP Manila’s UPG cut-off – at least based on past UPG cut-offs for reconsideration purposes – is higher (not numerically but according to UP’s grading system) than that of UP Los Banos.

If UP Manila is not one of her campus choices, then a transfer to UP Manila seems even less likely for the same reason stated above. UP Manila, moreover, is one of the most competitive campuses in the UP System because a significant number of applicants choose this campus in their UPCAT application form.

If you want to try for a transfer to UP Manila, however, please call UP Manila to inquire. Be sure to explain what you want to achieve (that your daughter has passed the UPCAT and has been assigned to UP Manila and has been given a slot to [insert course name here] ). Expect the process to be difficult, but you can still try. Good luck!

It also said that “GCE: 3 ordinary level passes and 2 advanced level passes ” were needed. Would 3 Advanced Subsidiary level passes suffice?

Also, if I were planning to take the UPCAT for the school year 2013-2014, would I need to take to UPCAT exam this coming August 2012? By that time, I would have finished my AS year, but the official results of my AS Board Exam wouldn’t be out till the 2nd or Third Week of August … And at August 2012, I’d be an A level student.

That said, would I qualify for the 2012 UPCAT?

To apply, you will need two forms: UPCAT Application for Freshman Admission (Form 1) which you need to fill out and the Secondary School Record (Form 2) which your school principal/head needs to fill out. The UPCAT application period usually starts around May, so UP is probably not handing out application forms just yet. Once the university opens the application period, forms will be available online, at the Office of the Registrar of any UP campus, and at the UP Office of Admissions in UP Diliman.
