I really disagree with your logic giving 'incentives' to the science high school graduates and leaving the non science high school people behind when it comes to the UPG grading system. So that explains my UPG being lower than my batch mate who is a graduate of PISAY even if my percentile ranks in all the categories we took in the UPCAT are ALL higher than his percentile ranks? So you are saying the science high schools are stricter than the non science high schools which in reality (and I have experienced) is contrary to what you account. Do you know that a lot of BRILLIANT non science high school graduates are discriminated in UP because of that kind of thinking? Many professors assume the science high school people are smarter than the non science high school students. I BELIEVE THAT IS OUT OF THE POINT AND IRRATIONAL AT THE SAME TIME. And in reality, they do not listen to the non science high school students anymore, even if what the science high school students say is plain nothing. What I am saying is what I have been through in the university. This is my testimony.
I am a graduate of a non-science high school. I am taking up a course at UP Diliman, College of Science. I won't account here my course because we are few in our batch and it would be really easy to pinpoint who I am among us. I am actually the best in our batch when it comes to writing, specifically technical writing, that's science paper writing. My paper in a laboratory class is the best among us. I did not have any technical writing subject when I was in high school. Moreover, I know many of our batch mates who are graduates of PISAY who fail in Math 17 and that is BASIC MATH. Do you know the advance placement exam? I passed that. I did not take the BASIC MATH anymore. AND to finish, a lot of people like me who are not graduates of science high schools actually perform BETTER than the graduates of the science high school. So maybe it is time to open your eyes and stop exulting the science high school people, and start listening to the non science high school graduates as well.

[...] While the ACET will throw in the standard issue Science, Math and English topics, expect your skills in the latter two subjects to be tested big time. ACET takers have reported a lot of questions involving problem solving, statistics, conic sections (basically Maths 2 and 4 material). Now, aren’t you glad you’re from a science high school?
